〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: annabeth chase
CHARACTER AGE: 17
SERIES: riordan mythos
CHRONOLOGY: Post Ship of the Dead (which, chronologically, is post Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus).
CLASS: Hero
HOUSING: unhoused (she's staying at fauxhalla)

BACKGROUND: Annabeth Chase Wiki Article.

All of Rick Riordan's works exist in the same universe, and do tend to overlap. The Wiki article does a good job of explaining not only where Annabeth comes in during the series where she is a primary character (PJO,HOO) but also her role in the others (KC, MCGOA). But if you would like, I'm happy to explain it further! She is related by blood to Magnus, so she does have a somewhat regular place in his universe, but she is only a truly primary character in the Percy Jackson world.

PERSONALITY:On the surface, Annabeth breaks stereotypes. Dumb blondes? This is the daughter of Athena we're talking about. She is smart and knows it, and will be sure everyone else does as well, going as far as to call out the Sphinx when she wasn’t feeling challenged enough. Despite her dyslexia and ADHD, Annabeth is well and widely read, especially architecture and Greek Myths. She has a preference to nonfiction - text books, history, architecture studies, etc. And her intelligence is hardly limited to books - she's got quite a bit of common sense and street-smarts to boot. When she was seven, she ran away from home with two other demigods, quickly gaining the experience a semi-normal life at home couldn’t give her. That experience came at the expense of their childhoods, as it usually does when you are on the run for two years from monsters, with little more than trash cans to hide in and hammers to protect yourself. They survived because they had each other, and that harbored a fairly unhealthy loyalty and belief in found families, and the importance of family in her life. It takes quite a bit to gain her trust, but once you get it? You have it for life.

She's a master strategist, a quick-thinker, and always has plans B, C and D at the ready. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, courage, justice, warfare and strategy, all of which Annabeth embodies, or does her best to. She wants to show her mother that she is worth attention, and love, and to do that she will be exactly what her mother stands for. It's almost an obsession of her's for a long time, living as by the books as she can for as long as she could.

Annabeth can come off as harsh, mean, and even judgmental upon first impressions, all of which stem from her issues with trust. Running away from home at such a young age and having to learn the hard way that you need to look out for yourself or no one else will, left her more than a little guarded. That, as well as a life of obvious mistrust from the only guardians she had kept most of young Annabeth's attention to herself. But it's something that is easily fixed, once her trust is won. In fact, once anyone gets past that initial hurdle, she is loyal almost to a fault, and will do anything to keep her friends, her family, safe. There is also a downside to this intense sense of loyalty, for it is so deeply rooted within her, it hurts that much more when it backfires. She's been betrayed before, and she's now smarter for it, though she's also just as aware of the way her own life has improved by opening up every now and then. She fits somewhere in between it all - untrusting, but knowing better. Head over heart, with a gut feeling she has a hard time ignoring. It's constant, that fight between her sides - much like her mother's battle between her Roman and Greek sides.

Because while she might have an unbelievable resume, she is also a teenager - a little too self-confident at times and a little too intense at others. She likes to laugh, likes to have fun, and likes to love, but generally being a demigod doesn't let that happen. But a lot has happened – friends have come and gone, quests have been heard and completed, and the impossible has been proven possible so many times Annabeth sometimes has to question which way is up. But she survives, always survives, and that’s what matters.

All in all, Annabeth is a demigod; she will fight and claw and bite her way through a battle if it means proving herself. She's sarcastic, confident, witty and generally convinced she’s surrounded by idiots. But she is not one to be discouraged by a challenge, and is fully aware that this is her life and her destiny, and it’s up to her to make the most of it.

Annabeth is the daughter of knowledge, and if knowledge is power, she can do anything.

Change from Time in Game: When Annabeth first arrived, she had been nearly unhinged. She didn't know where Percy was, or if he would follow, she didn't understand what was going on or why she was even there. There was a lack of foundation for her that was almost devastating. But in the end, she did have Magnus, and others arrived not that long after. It took a little bit of time, but Annabeth found her footing in De Chima, getting a job and finding herself enjoying it, really getting to have relationships with family and friends she wouldn't have had normally, and just. Letting herself be.

Personality-wise, what De Chima has given her is an odd sense of calm. In a way she never really could back home. She is terrified of the uncertainties of this place - people going home, disappearing, without a moment's notice. But living with fear is something that she's learned to handle, and it doesn't keep her from moving forward.

POWER:
Daughter of Athena. (canon powers) As a daughter of Athena, she has a few select methods of improvement, when it comes to her every day. First, her intelligence is more than just above average, but beyond comprehension. She’s witty, analytical, intelligent, has a photographic memory, and can pick up and learn new topics and skills at above average speeds (usually ridiculous). She can also more easily read ancient languages than modern ones - Greek, Latin, etc etc. and reads at a ridiculous speed, her brain seeming to have access to store and house more knowledge than any normal person would be able to. Second, there is the matter of her actual, physical existence. Specifically- her heightened endurance, speed, agility, and on top of it all, mastery of all weapons, once she has had a chance to hold and examine it for long enough.

Blueprinting. Annabeth has always had an interest in architecture - something about building something that would last, building something permanent, to this day still matters to her. This ability would act a lot like architecture manipulation, in that through touch, she would be able to understand everything about a building, from it's structure, layout, how it is constructed, it's weak points, and everything in between. With only a touch, she can know everything she could want to know about a structure, with the only limitation being that it does have to be man-made.

Invisibility She does still have her cap with her - a Yankees baseball cap given to her by her mother, that when she puts it on she can go completely invisible, until she takes the hat off her head. There is no time limit to this ability, so long as she doesn't lose the cap.

〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉
COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
[ there is......so much more she could be dealing with, right now. new knowledge, new information, the whole fact she'd just been gone and is still dealing with everything that comes with....that. but right now she doesn't want to focus on it. not yet.

because by focusing on it she'll had to admit that she left. she'll have to own up that while it was absolutely out of her control, she still feels so, so guilty. half of her just wants to run back and apologize, to act like saying it'll never happen again could actually be the truth. like she could have some control over that.

clarisse is going to kill her, maybe, but what hurts worse is knowing that magnus...probably won't forgive her. not really. not in the way it was before. and that idea, alone, is curling away at everything behind her ribs. it's most of the reason why she hasn't yet contacted them, why her first instinct is to go to the network instead.

she just needs a conversation. just needs a point of contact. then she'll be ready to go again.

so when annabeth pulls up the network, it's with a strange sense of familiarity. knowing that she has people to message, people to catch up with. ]

Barring general public reporting and heading back through the archive- where can someone find an update on what's been going on over the last....let's say. Month?

[ was that too much? annabeth sighs. she can basically feel clarrise coming through the walls, angry at her for not giving warning. ]

Additionally- those who have been sent home and come back- any tips?

ANNABETH CHASE
riordanverse
demigod
daughter of athena
female
18
Abilities
⯌ Athenian Blood As the daughter of Athena, Annabeth possess extreme intelligence and is a highly proficient fighter, especially in terms of strategy and weaponry. Her mind works on a super-human level where combat is concerned, with a picture-perfect memory and an ability to store and access an excess amount of information. Additionally, her willpower (or stubbornness, depending on the situation) is described as supernatural - including the ability to hold the weight of the sky and to survive Tartarus without going insane.

⯌ Demigod Bonuses supernatural alertness, keen battle senses, above-average strength, agility, and durability.
Out-of-Character
⯌ Backtag absolutely. I'm the type who will backtag forever and always, but please always feel free to let me know if you've moved on/would rather handwave the rest of a thread/if a tag is too old. I'm generally a slow-to-medium-paced tagger, but if a thread is important and you'd like to boomerang, we can discuss/I can find time. c:

⯌ Fourthwall only if it's about the greek myths in general, please!

⯌ Off-Limits for me, there are no general ones, but if a thread makes me uncomfortable, I will let you know.

⯌ IC Warnings annabeth's canon deals with a lot of child abuse (physical, mental, emotional)/child endangerment/making light of said child abuse/endangerment, violence, war, fighting, injury, torture, death, dealing with death, ptsd, abandonment issues, etc. she's spent a considerable amount of her young life never believing she'd see the next year and watching a lot of her friends die, as well as a few months surviving a literal hell (tartarus), so her tags may mention some of said topics. happy to avoid discussion of them if you'd prefer to opt out, no questions asked.
In-Character
⯌ Physical Contact sure thing. she wasn't always the physically affectionate sort of person, but dating percy jackson kind of reset her understanding of it. she's gotten much better about receiving (and giving), but if she doesn't know you, don't expect a warm welcome.

⯌ Mental Contact she will not love it, as her mind is her own domain, but where it concerns game or meme mechanics, she can get used to it and will use it if necessary. she just doesn't like anyone messing with her most powerful muscle, thank you.

⯌ Flirt depending on how comfortable she is, and the kind of flirting, probably leaning yes. she's not a huge flirt and tbh isn't attracted to a lot of people, but in a way- flirting is a competitive use of words, and she will never back down from a competition.

⯌ Fight oh, we are absolutely down. annabeth won't throw the first punch (usually) but she never shies away from a fight unless she already knows she can't win. I love a good fight, too, but would like to discuss anything super intense.

⯌ Injury let's talk about it first, but 9 times out of 10 I am down.

⯌ Death preferably not.

⯌ Other will update if needed!

Annabeth is the daughter of knowledge, and if knowledge is power, she can do anything.

POWER:
DEMIGOD HARDWIRING
But actually. Demigods are a lot like regular humans, sure. They're mortal, they have parents, they have to go to school. It just turns out that having one immortal parent makes the rest of their life a lot more difficult. Dyslexia makes schooling hard, unless you're learning Ancient Greek. Latin isn't that much more difficult, but regular languages are the worst. Annabeth has to work twice as hard when it comes to reading anything not written in Ancient Greek, but that won't stop her. It barely slows her down anymore. Beyond that, a demigod brain is wired to think fast, move fast, and always be on the alert. Doctors call that ADHD, heroes call it instinct. An instinct that can, one day, save your life. It's hard for a lot of demigods to sit still for any extended period of time. Annabeth has gone out of her way to train herself to control it, but if she isn't focusing on it specifically, she'll bounce a leg or two if she's made to sit for too long, just like any other demigod. There's only so much even a daughter of Athena can do, stubborn or no. Additionally, her body is built to handle all of this - higher endurance, higher tolerance for pain and injury, tougher to get through and harder to break. She has fallen from incredible heights and only broken an ankle, gone for hours and hours, days and days, only needing to rest shortly in between, etc.

COMBAT TRAINING
The nine beads on Annabeth's camp necklace represent the nine summers she has stayed at Camp Half Blood. That is nine summers (and a few falls, winters and springs) where she studied the art of combat, both hand to hand and weaponized. Coupled with her quick reflexes and heightened senses, she's deadly with her hands alone, but it doesn't stop there. She's learned the basics for nearly every Greek weapon, her favorites coming down to the knife, or dagger, that Luke gave her years ago, and a bow and arrows. She might not be as skilled as an Apollo cabin member, but she can hit a target from a fairly decent distance. Swords come in a close third, followed by spears. All in all, with her knife in one hand and a shield in her other, Annabeth is all but invincible.

GIFTS FROM A GODLY PARENT
As a child of Athena, most of Annabeth's 'demigodly powers' involve the brain. She's a mater strategist, incredibly intelligent, and quite the quick-thinker. Her interest is architecture, but she also has an incredible memory, which is helpful when it comes to quests and other situations that parallel old myths and legends. Annabeth also has a photographic memory, which is helpful in sticky situations. While she might not be the strongest, fastest, or most powerful, a child of Athena will always have a plan. And a back-up plan. And a back-up to that back-up. And then of course there are those dreams she has - little looks into the past or present or future, usually having to do with her quest or something important to her. They are a lot like out of body experiences, letting her knows when something is going to happen or another aspect of the quest they might not be focusing on, but nine times out of ten they are not nice. at all. Helpful, but not nice.

I get that this goes out to everyone, so I'll keep this easy.
There are questions below, answers can vary on length depending on the information.
As thorough as possible is preferred, but anything is better than nothing.

1.) What pantheons are relevant where you're from?
2.) Do you have magic, and do you use it?
3. ) If so, is there a price? How did you obtain it?
4. ) Does your creation myth relate to your patheons?
5. ) Do you have gods? Demigods? Anything and everything in between?

I'm compiling as many stories as possible, so anything you know will be helpful.

I'm willing to trade info for info.

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE: TDM thread and also for more samples, secondary TDM thread

FINAL NOTES: As far as inventory goes, she tends to have the simplest of things on her. Camp shirt, jeans, boots, a parka (she was in Boston, okay. It was cold.), a necklace full of camp beads and a seashell from her boyfriend, a cell phone, her magical laptop, a dagger at her hip, and a Yankees baseball camp that can also turn her invisible. Just in case she needs it.

There is also a downside to this intense sense of loyalty, for it is so deeply rooted within her, it hurts that much more when it backfires. Luke's betrayal was probably the hardest, most painful thing she had to experience in her life.

Because while she might have an unbelievable resume, she is also a teenager - a little too self-confident at times and a little too intense at others. She likes to laugh, likes to have fun, and likes to love, but generally being a demigod doesn't let that happen. Annabeth is the daughter of knowledge, and if knowledge is power, she can do anything.

When she arrived in Eudio, Annabeth came without any expectations other than completing what she needed to complete for her world to be safe. However, things changed when she finally talked to Percy - found out certain things happened while she wasn't there. While she wasn't aware. Romance was always a difficult place for her to be - she was a daughter of the mind, not the heart - but when presented with the idea that the love of her life, her everything, might have feelings for someone else?

Percy kissed Nico. Percy did more with Nico. He said he still loved her, and always would, but there was more to it and Annabeth - the objectively-heavy girl she was - is still trying to figure out where that leaves her. She still loves Percy, she still feels something for Nico, but she doesn't quite know....what.
Sample Objectives: I would love for Annabeth to have to solve some kind of Maze - the Labyrinth was a very important aspect for her as a person, and having to complete an uncompletable Maze would be a challenge she would not be able to turn down. Secondly, she needs some kind of objective that would prove to her she is helping her home world. It is why she went to Eudio, and why she would want to come here. The chance to save her world would be a possibility she would not be able to turn down, no matter what is expected of her.
Sample: previous game
Sample Game Mechanic: Annabeth would not be able to avoid the urge to join a kind of Master and Servant system. It would lean too much into her pride and her need for power, but also the idea that a consenting contract with someone else who would help her complete even more objectives would be too much to say no to. She wouldn't be able to say no to that. Not if it would help her reach her end even faster. Also, additionally, there would be too much of a draw to temple raiding - it's too similar to what her life was like at home and she's too good at it to say no.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: annabeth chase
CANON: riordan verse / percy jackson and the olympians / heroes of olympus
AGE: 18
CANON POINT: beginning of Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer (she is going to boston to find her cousin)

BACKGROUND: percy jackson and the olympians / the heroes of olympus / annabeth chase
INCENTIVE: For Annabeth, she would have wanted to made sure her incentives were made very clear. This wouldn’t be a decision she would make lightly, so it would take a level of trust with the representative she would speak to. However, if they were aware of enough of what her life has been, and what she might face in the future, an agreement that the world would be safe, and the people she loves will be safe, and that everything in the end will be okay will be enough for her to agree. She is from a world where her neck is on the line constantly, but more importantly, so are the necks of her friends, her family, her boyfriend. Knowing that they would be safe (that Percy) would be safe, would be enough to convince her to go.
FIT: Due to the fact this was an agreement she made, and not something she would take likely. For the sake of her incentive, she would do just about anything, and anything intimate or sexual is hardly a reason to break that agreement. She has a boyfriend, she knows what it means to be active and in love, so the idea that she could be paid to have that kind of physical intimacy with someone is hardly a chance she'd give up. Now, the idea of having sex with someone who isn't Percy will be a decision and a step she will need to make, but Annabeth isn't worried. For one, a part of her knows that she and Percy will always find each other. And for another, she is more stubborn and prideful to allow anything - even her own inexperience to stand in the way of what she could possibly gain from this situation.
CONSENT: The thing about Annabeth's life is that it has felt, mostly, in the hands of someone else. She didn't choose to be a demigod, didn't choose to have a godly parent, didn't choose to have to go on the run or hide away at a magical camp because simply being was too dangerous. Sure, there were minor decisions she was able to make - what quest was she going to break the rules to go on, who was she going to surround herself with, whether or not she wanted to turn tails and run back home or fight. But in the face of it all, she really didn't have the choice, because it was either her or the entire world.

But in light of that, it means that she knows what it means to have the ability to decide, and to make decisions, and for them to be entirely up to her. Consent, in its purest form, is something incredibly important to Annabeth. She has to know she has the power to make her own decisions, and to do what she wants with them. When it's up to her, there's no stopping her. At all.

ANYTHING ELSE? Annabeth is the daughter of Athena and a college professor from San Francisco. Beyond her basic demigod abilities - quickened reflexes, hardwiring to battle, combat training - she has a genetic tendency towards wisdom, war strategy, and anything else her mother had once been the patron goddess of. It’s nothing world-breaking, but her brain is pretty above-average in that regard.

I had apped and played her for a few months in 2015 - she had an apartment, a job, etc. I know there was someone else who apped her in and played her for a bit, but I was wondering if (with mods' approval) I could play around with some notes she might have left herself from her time here before!
